Erasmus is, in many ways, a product of commerce. His father was an influential captain in the merchant fleet of Darokin’s House Linton and his mother was the daughter of a Minrothad Guildmaster in the elven Guild Elsan. Their marriage was an effort to build an alliance between the economic power-houses of the Known World. Unfortunately, neither of his parents would agree to leave their respective families to sail with the others and so Erasmus was forced to spend his childhood with one parent, aboard their ships for months at a time, only to be traded to the other when both parents found themselves in the same port. While this life gave Erasmus an opportunity to see much of the Known World, it left him feeling listless and without a true sense of home. As such, as soon as he found an opportunity, Erasmus jumped ship and made his way inland, to find his future far away from the rolling waves.
As the child of a Minrothad elf, Erasmus naturally had a predisposition towards weather magics. However, his powers over the storm magics of Minrothad are more primordial and potent than those used by the Minrothad weather witches. The power of tempest magic runs in his blood and Erasmus had learned to harness the destructive forces of thunder, lightning and wind in battle.
